Size and fabric reference
The detailed table covers XS–4XL. At 140 cm fabric width, main-fabric references are 3.5 m for XS–2XL and 4 m for 3XL–4XL. Check the layout for your size and any shrinkage or pattern matching. Choose a light fabric with some drape and check opacity before buying.
File note: the maker's 2510 worksheet header gives 2XS–6XL, while its detailed table covers XS–4XL. Confirm your size against the current product file list and chart. The quantities above are for main fabric, excluding a separate skirt lining.
Identify the two upper layers before cutting
The maker's 2510 drawing states that the upper section is double-layered: the inside can use lining fabric or the same fabric as the outside. The short notes identify B as the shoulder join, D as the neckline and E as the gathered lower-section join. Sew the two sets of B shoulder joins separately; the two D neckline edges are placed right sides together and turned after sewing.
That confirms the two-layer neckline, but it does not establish a complete cutting list or every inner armhole connection for size M. Before cutting the upper pieces, obtain a detail naming each piece, its outer/inner cutting quantities, the armhole finish and the opening used for turning. Send your selected-size pages through account messages if that detail is absent.
Keep the skirt unlined for this version. A separate skirt lining needs its own attachment, free-edge and fabric plan. The checks below apply only after the upper-layer connections are confirmed.
Check the neckline before joining the skirt
With the upper-piece map confirmed, join the shoulder seams of each layer separately. Place the neckline layers right sides together and sew the marked edge. Turn and inspect the opening before topstitching. The inner layer should sit smoothly without drawing the outer neckline inward.
Match the C side-seam and sleeve references on the pieces. Close the sleeve underarms and set the sleeves with front, back and shoulder marks matched. Check movement while the allowances remain accessible.
Gather the skirt in sections
Mark the skirt and upper section at their joining points. Gather the E edge to its stated dimensions, distributing fullness between the marks. Keep centres and side seams aligned.
Baste the waist join and open the dress out. Look for a caught fold, an uneven waistline or a section with much denser gathers. Adjust the basting before permanent stitching, then remove visible gathering threads.
Keep the original cuff width
The source marks the sleeve cuff Y and calls for 3 cm elastic. It does not fully define the fold depth, threading opening or finished sleeve length after turning. Obtain that cuff detail before cutting or finishing the sleeve; do not infer it from elastic width alone. Make a sample with the same fabric and elastic; check that it threads without twisting, moves freely and gives the intended finished sleeve length.
If the fold depth or threading opening is missing from your file, request that detail before finishing the sleeve. The worksheet also mentions 0.6 cm elastic, but supplies no corresponding fold or sleeve-length adjustment. It is not a direct substitute: it needs a separately confirmed cuff alteration.
Finish with the dress hanging freely
Let the assembled dress hang before checking the hem on the wearer. Check sitting, reaching and wrist movement, then finish the hem for the chosen fabric. If you later add a separately planned skirt lining, check its hem and movement independently before trimming.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my skirt gathers uneven at the side seam?
Compare the section marks and the length gathered into each section. Release the basting locally and spread the gathers before sewing that part again.
What should I check if the neckline's inner layer shows?
Look first for a twisted layer, mismatched shoulder marks or a caught allowance. Correct the assembly while it is accessible, then check the pattern's pressing and understitching instructions.
