Clothes you'd like to wear

Dresses, shirts, jackets, trousers and everyday clothes for children. Start with these three designs and compare necklines, waistbands and shapes.

Bags for everyday use

A pouch for your phone, a tote for going out or a zipper bag for small essentials. Think about what it will hold, then compare dimensions and closures.

Before downloading: files and sizing

PDF

Check the paper size and print at 100%. Measure the test square before printing the rest of the pattern.

PLT

For plotters and pattern-printing shops. Give the file to the shop and ask for output at its original scale.

cm · m · in

cm means centimetres, in means inches, and m means metres. 1 in = 2.54 cm; 1 m = 100 cm.

Sizing

Measure bust, waist and hips, then use the size chart. For children, check height too; for bags, check the finished dimensions.

Downloading, printing and choosing a size

How do I download a free pattern?

Open a product page, sign in and use the free-claim button. After claiming, save your files from the download center. Your account shows how many free claims you have left today.

Can I print the patterns at home?

Check the paper size first. Use matching paper for tiled A4 or Letter files, or take large-format files to a print shop. Select 100% or actual size, measure the test square, then print the remaining pages.

How do I choose a clothing size?

Measure your bust, waist and hips, then compare them with the product's size chart. Check whether the chart shows body or finished-garment measurements and allow for ease. Use height for children's sizes and check the length of trousers and skirts.

How is a pattern different from a drafting tutorial?

A pattern provides the outlines of the pieces to print and cut. A drafting tutorial gives measurements and drawing steps so you can draw the pieces yourself. The product's file list and instructions describe what is included.
